Australian mezzo soprano Sidra Nissen is quickly establishing herself as one of Australia's leading young performers, winning the 2025 IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition and receiving its most prestigious award, the Marianne Mathy Scholarship.

Operatic highlights include Dorabella in Cosí Fan Tutte with Melbourne Opera (2025), and with Victorian Opera has performed in, Il Mago Di Oz (2022) and Cheremushki (2023).

Concert appearances include an art song program at the Music by the springs chamber music festival with the Australian chamber orchestra, Mozart under the stars with the Melbourne Opera Orchestra, ‘Turning points operatic scenes’, ‘Lieder to lehar’ and ‘all the worlds a stage’ concert series with Opera Scholars Australia.

Sidra is the recipient of the first prize from Opera Scholars Australia’s aria award competition final and the Robert Salzer memorial scholarship awarded at the 2023 National Liederfest Final.

Sidra is also the recipient of the Margaret Sutherland Bursary scholarship and the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute Scholarship awarded to her at the IFAC HANDA Australian Singing Competition Finals. Upon her high standard completion of her Bachelors Degree Sidra also received The Ormond exhibitions scholarship.

Sidra holds a Bachelor of Music (performance) from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
